Easy Crafts For Halloween For Grade School Kids

When it comes to preparing for Halloween, I do not know which is more fun, coming up with costume ideas, or making crafts for Halloween. Depending on how elaborate a party I might be planning, there will be times when the crafts will definitely win out. Helping kids set up their own parties is another passion of mine, and I love teaching them cool, but simple crafts they can do for the holiday every year. I will be sharing some of these with you now, so you can pass them on to your own kids.

Puppet Crafts For Halloween

One of the most popular crafts for Halloween that we do that is also very easy to teach are the ghostly hand puppets we make every year. Not only will they be fun at this year’s party, but the kids can play with them for a long time afterwards. To make, all you need are a white handkerchief, magic markers and a rubber band. Draping the handkerchief over their hands, have the kids stick out their thumb and pinky, with the other three pointing down. Secure the rubber band around the three fingers, forming the head, the other two will be the arms. Draw eyes and a mouth on the handkerchief, and you have your own ghost puppet.

Pumpkin Painting

Carving out pumpkins every year for Halloween can get a bit messy, especially if you are entertaining a large group of kids. Instead, try teaching them this simpler crafts for Halloween, and provide poster paints with which they can decorate their own small pumpkins. Provide a range of colors so they will have plenty to choose from for making weird faces and scary effects. Some old sheets on the table and on the floor will take care of any little “accidents”.
