If you want to get children involved in simple craft projects then you will have to get them involved in the process. If they are involved in the project they will enjoy the trick or treating better and also enjoy their Halloween more. Halloween craft projects can be as simple as cutting out big pumpkins and using washable paints or markers they can design the scariest pumpkin or the funniest one. They can do the same with their own costumes. Give them a theme and have them raid the cloths closets to come up with items of clothing that can be recreated into costumes.
Creating Simple Halloween Pumpkins
Shop the discount stores before Halloween and buy cheap orange paper and other craft accessories such as glue sticks, other colors of paper, washable markers and glitter. Then cut out the basic pumpkin shape for the children and let them have a contest for the winner of different categories of pumpkins. It could be scary, funny, mean, happy or whatever emotion. Set a time limit and when they are finished have a panel of judges and reward the winners with low fat Halloween cookies.
Using Household Items For Decorations
Another simple craft project is to have the kids wander the house looking for items that are readily available like empty egg cartons, brown paper bags, white plastic bags, cloths pins, pipe cleaners, and even different dried pasta shapes. Make sure you have various colored construction paper, safety scissors and glue available then set them to making decorations that they can either wear on Halloween or can be strung around the house or to decorate a table. This gives them some time to be creative and in the end their crafts can be displayed for all to see. It will keep them entertained for quite some time.
