Dog costumes have received mixed controversy for several reasons. So, you have to look at a few reasons as to why people do and don't want their pets to wear dog costumes. This is completely unbiased, just pointing out a few reasons why a person would be opposed to dogs wearing dog costumes and why some would be all for the wearing of dog costumes.
Yay
Some people feel that wearing dog costumes includes the dog in the festivities. They also feel that there is an opportunity for the dog to get in an extra walk (which, what dog would say no?!) and get around and just feel included. This is also great for new puppies, since you can train them to wear dog costumes, which will make it easier to dress them up later. Needless to say, there are quite a few reasons why people feel that it's fine to wear dog costumes. However, others have different opinions regarding this. Some are fueled by personal beliefs whilst others are formed based on how dog costumes look! So, here is the other side of the argument.
Nay
Some believe that it's cruel for dogs to wear dog costumes, since an ill-fitting one can be detrimental to an animal's health after a long period of time, if it cuts off circulation, or because they can't take it off even if they want to. Others feel it would be pointless to dress them and take them out since you would run into so much foot traffic and that might cause your animal harm, especially if they were to catch on something whilst wearing a dog costume. Some think that it looks kind of stupid and that it's just not right to dress up an animal—they have fur for a reason, after all. These are just a few reasons why people say nay for dog costumes. However, the ultimate decision is yours!
